I'm really easily distracted. Particularly when it comes to writing. I can only concentrate on one thing at a time - which is a nuisance when I've a few ideas I want to follow through on. More than a nuisance when the sun is shining and I'd like to swim and read and relax. I love going on holiday but I know I don't write as well when the weather is hot. I'm much more focused when it's cold outside.
I've temporarily given up on my Walmart story - yet again. I don't know why this one won't fly but until it feels right - it's back in limbo.
I need to write a story that follows up on two characters in 'Jumping in Puddles' - out in January with Loose-ID - but I'm not in the mood for that yet.
I need to write a little Fae story to go in an anthology with some friends - started that and ground to a halt. The problem is - can I write a 5,000 word short? I've done it before but that is very short.....
Plus I had an idea for a story like Strangers, started it, liked it, but it's morphed into a MM instead of an MF.
I'm not going to mention the handful of others that I've begun and stopped for one reason or another.
So now I have a load of part-started stories on my laptop and I can't decide what to do next. I suspect until I'm back in the cold - and that's going to be very soon, I'm not going to be focused enough to concentrate on anything.
Ooh the sun is shining. I'm off outside.
Wish I had some good advice for you, but seeing how you've finished more books than anyone I know, my advice would be inadequate. Once your holiday is over, your batteries are recharged, and you're sitting for hours on a plane with nothing to do but think, perhaps a completed story, the one waiting in the recesses of your mind, will come out of hiding.
ReplyDeleteHmm...When I'm plotting stories in my head, I've been told I look like a zombie, or sometimes my kids ask me if I have gas. I wonder what expression you'd be wearing while plotting amidst a plane full of passengers. LOL!
What a great picture! Love seeing you with the sun shining, water sparkling and sunglasses on crooked.
ReplyDeleteYes, I also love the flow of stories, but hey, a few days off is good so your smile stays bright. That M/M is gonna be awesome!
Plane delayed three hours - I'm going to be a zombie by the time we get on board!
ReplyDeleteRecharge and come back fightin!! Loved "Worlds Apart" - such a sweet story with the Fae, however I am not a Novella/Short person unless it is in conjunction with a book series. Novellas tend to leave me ...unfulfilled.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gina. I do tend to write long - I might start off with short in mind but..... LOL
ReplyDeleteI prefer reading long rather than novellas so it just shows!
Course, now I'm back in the UK in mist and fog and rain I long for the sun.
