Brits are thought of as fairly straitlaced,
stiff upper lip and all that. Until the arrival of 50 Shades which has shown us
to be as obsessed with eroticism as the rest of the world, marital aids were
confined to cups of tea and hot water bottles, but research has shown Brits
lead the world in our interest in spanking. Whether that dates back to the
outdated view of seeing corporal punishment as a way to build character, I
don’t know, but I’m intrigued. (Not enough to try, husband, unless you want to
volunteer?)
Apparently Brits also score highly in
online searches for CFNM. (I’m not one of the searchers. I had no idea what
that was.) It’s Clothed Female Naked Man sites where submissive men are ordered
to strip by pretty women who then make fun of their tackle. How appealing does
that sound? (Not to me, says husband) Women in New Zealand are top of the list
for sexual partners in a lifetime at 20.4. I do wonder what the point 4 looks
like. Austrian men are the most promiscuous with 29.3 partners over a lifetime.

many people do they ask when they do these surveys? How many lie? Though
clearly those in Thailand haven’t learned how to lie!

Loved this post. As fascinating as these statistics are, I'm with you, wondering about the individual sources behind these numbers. Was there a door-to-door survey done? An anonymous questionnaire passed around? Would things like culture, age, and gender sway whether a question was answered honestly?
I think sex might be one of the few things that defies time and region. Regardless of the country or era, everyone does it, as often as they want, in as many ways as they want. What changes is whether or not it's acceptable to admit the specifics.
Speaking as an American, I've never heard anyone complain about too rough sex. Not sure if that negates or validates America's rank in the worst lovers category.
Knowing how people lie in surveys, I really don't know how much truth there can be in this sort of survey. I think they'd have to ask thousands of people to be sure of any result and they likely asked about ten!
I mean - how do you make sure you have a representative sample of the population? Is a certain group more likely to respond than another? Darn it, now I'm too interested in this. I should have done psychology at uni!
Well, I ended up with a minor in Human Sexuality in college along with a Master's in Computer Engineering (very long story) and some of the pioneering studies of Master's and Johnson and Kinsey did literally involved interviewing thousands and one of their major conclusions was just that...everyone lies, at least somewhat when it comes to sex. It appears to be a quirk deep rooted in the human psyche. I just laugh and figure as long as no one asks me to lie about my sex life why do I care if they are lying about theirs.
